recent family photo shoots

I've been quiet on here for a while as the past few months have seen some pretty big changes in our family. Isabella started preschool and I went back to work at a brand new job. To sum up, we've been busy (a word I hate to use yet use all the time). Despite adjusting to our new schedules I have been able to sneak in a few photo shoots along the way, just to keep my craft alive. Enjoy these shots from the Fernandes, Johansson and Wäne families!

blom family at botaniska trädgården

Fall family sessions are in full swing! Gorgeous bursts of yellow, orange and red tones are popping up everywhere. The Swedish landscape is really showing off and I'm ecstatic to have it as the backdrop for my families. I first photographed the Blom family at the start of last summer. Now 5-year-old Charlie is one of my students and his sister Poppy is talking and "flying" everywhere she goes. It's crazy how quickly these kiddos grow!

lindblad family fall shoot

While the weather in Sweden is not always to my liking, I must admit, I love living somewhere where I can truly enjoy all of the four seasons. The fall colors out here are breathtaking and I'm grateful to have captured it in my session with the Lindblad family. The Lindblads are a party of five and all of them are bursting with love, joy and a healthy dose of silliness. I have the pleasure of working with mom Shea at an international school here in town, and 5-year-old Sofia is one of my own students! This afternoon was a lovely mix of work and play. Thank you Lindblad family for celebrating fall with me and being the most goofy and fun subjects yet!

lifestyle session with the Blom family

As I dive deeper into my journey as a photographer I am continually amazed by the plethora of knowledge there is out there about the craft. It is truly endless! While something of this magnitude would typically overwhelm me, I find myself more and more excited each turn I take. Like discovering the fact that I am a Lifestyle photographer, for instance. I knew I always approached my photography from a natural, documentary-styled perspective. I have never been one who was drawn to an overly-posed or prepared photograph. I always delighted in capturing images of the everyday to see them exactly as they happen. Little did I know this was a whole genre of photography with an increasingly growing following of fellow artists. Since joining the inspiring community of  Clickin Moms I have learned so much about this approach to photography and how I can grow and develop my techniques in it.

Last month I had the joy of photographing the Blom family. Capturing them playing on a sunny, Sunday afternoon was the simplest and most natural atmosphere to gather images of them at this stage in their lives. Their youngest had just turned two, there oldest about to start his last year of preschool—these are times you want to cherish as a parent as they are so fleeting and over before you know it. By simply spending a few hours with the family at their home and on a neighborhood stroll (with of course my camera in tow) I have produced a scrapbook of images that depicts what a typical afternoon looks like for them. What a wonderful memory to be able to look back on and see their life exactly as it happened. The more I learn as a photographer, the more I feel dedicated to stay true to my Lifestyle approach. I feel it is the most honest and real way to photograph. All of our lives are beautiful, and real life most definitely does not have time to be posed.

Enjoy the images below of the Bloms!

a shoot for reCreate Design Co.

A couple of weeks ago I shot my first commissioned photoshoot--so exciting! Mike and Micki are the ladies behind reCreate, a design company dedicated to creating beautiful interiors using solely repurposed and reused materials. Their workshop is right here in Gothenburg, Sweden and their work can be seen at local restaurants, cafes and recently at Gothenburg University. They are dumpster diving, power tool drilling divas who aren't afraid to get down and dirty to make something out of nothing.

For their shoot I wanted to capture not only an industrial aesthetic, but also images that reflected their playfulness and creativity. We shot in a perfect location under the bridge at Röda Sten and are so pleased with the results. Check out the images below and see what Mike and Micki are up to now on their website.
